These vintage-style earrings feature turquoise channel inlay set in sterling silver with dangling metal fringe. The French hooks appear to be newer and likely replaced. 10.57 gram total weight, see photos. This specific design is associated with Zuni Pueblo craftsmanship, a Native American tribe renowned for intricate stone inlay work. The s-curve pattern visible in the turquoise section is a classic motif, sometimes referred to as a hummingbird design or related to traditional rain and cloud symbols common in Southwestern jewelry. While the hummingbird design itself is a Quandelacy family signature, a CC hallmark on this Zuni jewelry points to artist Charlene CC Leekity. Charlene CC Leekit was a Zuni artist known for her multi-stone inlay work and she frequently worked with themes like butterflies and birds. Style Match: Her work often features the same high-quality turquoise channel inlay and dangling silver elements seen in these earrings. Metal: These earrings are stamped as sterling Technique: The channel inlay style involves setting precisely cut stones into silver channels or partitions to create a smooth, mosaic-like surface. Fringe: The hanging silver bars, often called fringe or dangles, represent falling rain, which is a vital and sacred symbol in desert cultures. I'm open to reasonable offers and bundles, please take a peek in my closet.
